The Environment Recently I had decided to purchase a Brita water pitcher/filter because I was growing tired of buying the big bulky and heavy bottled water all the time, which was also inconvenient for me anyway when I don't have a car and usually require a taxi or an old friend to help me carry them inside. Also have heard or read the news features that the companies that manufacture bottled water were not disclosing their source on the labels, which concerned me also, along with hearing that many bottles end up in landfills.
I also use cloth bags whenever I shop for groceries and at Walmart. Plastic tears too easily with heavier items, and cloth bags are much stronger.
As Alberta has a bottle deposit, I also save all of my various pop, etc bottles as well to take to the bottle depot.
