I'm a little disappointed that the solar panels aren't doubling as roofing, or at least shading for a rooftop patio. Have you considered grass roofing as well? I also wonder if there a particular roof shape and type that attracts moisture from night air and collects condensation in the desert? Have you heard of Aquatecture, involving a clear membrane window with water under suction creating a concave shape... makes an excellent roof pond and skylight when placed as a roof...
