We thought we'd add an area where new members could say hello to everyone and leave a brief message about themselves.

`Hi, my name is Véronique, and I live in Paris, France. I am a journalist in a monthly magazine called Psychologies and I am currently writing a paper about "green love". Here in France, we don't really have any green sites or Web communities where people can meet, make friends and even find love thank to their love for nature. I was therefore wondering if some of you would be willing to share their story on green passions with me. The idea is to explain how important it is for you to have green friends, or even a green lover and how you met through green passions. Don't hesitate to contact me : I'm sure your experience can be of great interest to us green frenchies, who still have trouble finding each other . Thanks in advance for everything and hope to read from you soon.

`Jason. Been here awhile, but might as well introduce myself anyway. I have lived in several states since joining; as of this writing, South Carolina. I have become completely disillusioned with the idea behind the so-called "American dream" -- maybe my upbringing in the 'burbs had something to do with that. In the city you have excitement and culture; in the country you have nature; in the suburbs you have neither. I cannot understand why anyone would choose to live there.

First of all I am an urban farmer. I have chickens and veggie gardens, fruit trees, compost piles, rain barrels.... the works! I would love love to not have to explain my lifestyle and why I do what I do. I would love love to meet someone who "gets it" and can add input to the way I live.

I try to live as low impact to the Earth as possible. When I date people who aren't involved with this lifestyle I end up trying live in both worlds. And that doesn't work for me. I am hoping to at the least meet some friends who share my unusual ways and the most possibly meet a partner and join homesteads....or something crazy like that.

Peace to all[/img]

I "get it." The human population is simply too big for everyone to move to the countryside, but we need everyone to live sustainably. Therefore, urban farming will soon be a necessity: the more food can be grown in cities, the less distance it will need to be shipped, and the less pressure there will be on the remaining open lands. Urban farming will soon do what urban living has done: expand upward rather than outward. The technology already exists for high-rise indoor farms.

Live was I ere I saw evil.
